2004 Mine Countermeasures and Demining ConferenceFebruary 9 - 11, 2004 DSTO is pleased to announce the 3rd Joint Australian/American Conference on Mine Countermeasures and Demining, hosted by DSTO in association with the Mine Warfare Association (MINWARA) and the Society for Counter-Ordnance Technology (SCOT). This conference will be held on 9 to 11 February 2004. It is planned to hold this in Canberra, at the Australian Defence Force Academy although this is subject to final confirmation. The last such conference was held in Sydney during 2001 and attracted over 230 attendees from 27 different countries, especially from the SE Asian region. DSTO plans to attract similar numbers from a similarly diverse range of nations. Note that the conference is scheduled to follow the Pacific 2004 conference of 3 to 5 February in Sydney. It is planned that the conference will focus on issues specific to the Asia-Pacific region and to the interface region between land and sea. This latter also includes land mine and unexploded ordnance detection and clearance in flooded areas. Broader interest topics will also be included. Industry sponsorship and display booths will be available. Interested parties in such should contact the conference chairman or coordinator. Details of the conference will be displayed on DSTO's public web site in due course: http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/corporate/conferences/minecountermeasures/. This will also provide accommodation, transport and local interest information and links. The conference coordinator is Mr Paul Piperias who can be contacted on +61-2-9692-1415 (fax: +61-2-9692-1560, email: paul.piperias@dsto.defence.gov.au). Dr.
