Brussels Demining ConferenceSeptember 15 - 18, 2003 The best way to understand the scope of this first major technical conference on demining and UXO removal is to visit the web pages at www.eudem.vub.ac.be/EUDEM2-SCOT There you can find information about registration, abstract and paper submission, and procedures for obtaining exhibit space. Also you can see the program develop as the various technical topics are fleshed out with refereed abstracts. The contributed papers will be presented in a series of parallel sessions on Tuesday, Sept. 16 and Wednesday, Sept. 17. The sessions on Monday Sept. 15 and Thursday, Sept. 18 will feature short addresses by distinguished invitees from NATO (SACEUR) and from the European Union and our Belgian Hosts. There will also be invited presentations covering a variety of operational and technical aspects of demining on land and at sea. We expect 500 attendees drawn from the science and engineering communities worldwide, field deminers and practitioners, governmental sponsors, and, of course, the industry that supports demining and UXO site remediation. There will be emphasis on risk management in both civil and military contexts.
